I got back into the gym yesterday and sweated my butt off! At first, I didn’t even feel like I was doing that much but that’s the sweatiest I’ve been in awhile! Anywho, I enjoyed it.
My first mile is at the top, and my second mile is in the bottom right corner and the calories burned for each are on the left.
I was a little surprised that I finished my second mile quicker than I did my first, but then I remembered that while I did my first mile at a slightly higher speed, I was at an incline the entire time and I did my second mile (after my workout) without any incline. Nonetheless, the times are still pretty close to one another given the circumstances, and I’m proud of that because most of the time my second mile is much slower than the first. So..yay to progress!
Breakfast: Blueberry oatmeal and turkey sausage
Mid-morning Snack: Skipped due to last minute work crisis that went over into lunch
Lunch: Chicken meatballs, brown rice “naked burrito bowl”, and strawberry yogurt
Mid-afternoon snack: Spinach salad (no meat) and strawberry yogurt with almonds
Dinner: Chicken meatballs, brown rice with carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower in a light cheese sauce
All I want in my life right now are cheddar bay biscuits from Red Lobster and some loaded french fries..I’ll just straighten up my desk and hit the gym though.
*le sigh* The cravings are real.
So to be clear, ladies and gentlemen, I don’t have anything to tie down my hair, not even a ponytail holder to pull it back, headphones, or my workout DVD.
The most important thing here is that I have myself, my healthy, and a place to workout. I’ll still be there today.
I’m so excited and nervous at the same fricking time! It’s been about 2 weeks since I’ve done any real physical activity and that’s because I’m pretty sure I was suffering from shin splints due to being flat footed (and knock kneed) and overpronating.
I bought some new shoes the weekend after I walked out of the gym less than 5 minutes into my warm up. And today will be my first time trying them out. Oh shoot! I just realized that I have my workout clothes and shoes, but forgot to bring something to tie my hair. *le sigh* Black girl problems. Anywho, I won’t let that stop me.
I talked to AJ last night and decided that I’m going to walk a mile, do my workout (oh shoot! I just realized that I forgot my workout DVD!! …but I remember most of it, I guess), and walk another mile. I was inspired by Allie telling me the walk and workout was a good idea together. (And to answer your question, Allie, I don’t have a heart monitor or fitness tracker yet, but I’ll have the Jawbone UP in the next week and I usually use the pulse monitor on the workout equipment.)
Of course, I’ll let you know how it goes. :-)
Missing something, but still yummy…and I found a single serve guacamole…it’s yummy too!

Thank you! It’s nice to know that someone notices. :-)
Warm lemon water to start my day
Breakfast: Green Smoothie w/ Spinach, Blueberries, Strawberries and Bananas
Mid-morning Snack: Green smoothie (from above)
Lunch: Homemade naked burrito bowl and a chicken salad
Mid-afternoon snack: Grapes
Dinner: Chicken, sweet potato fries, romaine salad
I kind of skipped breakfast and my mid-morning snack today because I woke up got up late, but I don’t feel so bad about it because this morning I started my day with warm lemon water. I made it to work at 10 am instead of my normal 8 am, so I decided to drink my green smoothie until lunch time rolled around instead of trying to rush a breakfast or snack. And I ate a little more at lunch than I normally would, so I think I’m pretty balanced. In fact, it’s been suggested to me and I’ve toyed around with the idea of having a green smoothie as a meal replacement once a day….hmmm….we’ll see.
By the way, my smoothie consisted of spinach, blueberries, strawberries, and a banana.
